You Do Have Credit Card Payment Options
Understanding the Different Credit Card Payment Options
Most credit cards today accept different forms of payment. Any bank will allow you to send your check or money order using the postal service. Many banks allow you to pay bills over the Internet using their online billing service. A majority of retail credit cards allow you to pay on your charge account in the store. The options are quite numerous. We’ve got some tips to help you determine which credit card payment options are best for you.
Snail Mail Is Not Dead
Traditional snail mail does have its advantages. When you pay your credit card by check, you can always access that returned copy for proof of payment. This is important in case you need to dispute an erroneously applied late fee with your credit card company.
However, snail mail does have its downside and it isn’t one of the most convenient credit card payment options. The cost of stamps can add up over a given year (not to mention gas spent running to the post office).
Online Bill Pay
One of the most popular credit card payment options is online bill pay. This is a good option if you are digitally inclined and if your credit card company doesn’t charge a fee for using the service.
Online bill pay allows you to pay your bills fast and setup recurring payments to save time in the future. Of course, online bill pay isn’t for everyone. If you’re not computer savvy or your bank charges a fee for online payments, you should look into other credit card payment options.
In-Store Payments
What about making a payment in the store for your retail credit card? The major advantage is that you could make a payment the same day that your card was due provided that you get to the store before the cutoff time (usually 5:00 p.m. local time).
This one is little bit interesting when you look at the psychology behind it. Stores will allow you to make payments in the stores to potentially increase their sales. By drawing you into the store, they hope that you will charge something else on your card once you are in there.
Most stores will accept a check or cash as method of payment. Just make sure you have your credit card with you so you don’t have to say your account number out loud, allowing other customers to overhear you.
