Time Has Changed the American Express Credit Card
American Express Credit Card Options
When I got my first credit card more than a decade ago, I would have never considered getting an American Express credit card. I heard so many rumors about them and assumed they were intended only for the wealthy. As a college student on an extremely limited budget, an American Express credit card just didn’t seem like the right option for me.
This Ain't Your Granddaddy's American Express
American Express has expanded their offerings in recent years, and having an American Express credit card is something that I no longer cringe at doing. It used to be that when you had an American Express credit card you had to pay off your balance in full each month. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. It can certainly protect you as a consumer from getting in debt over your head, but as a college student I needed a credit card that allowed me to carry a balance from month to month and only require me to make a small payment on that balance.
It's Been A Good Decade
I don’t think we’ve seen such as an explosion in credit card options as we have in the last decade, and that is particularly true when you think of the American Express credit card. There is no longer just one American Express credit card. Consumers now have many options. They can get whatever American Express credit card suits their needs and lifestyle. As a result, the American Express credit card is now an option for a wide range of consumers, and almost no one is excluded.
Some Of Today's Offerings
Blue from American Express currently has a 0% APR offer that lasts up to 15 months. Not every consumer will qualify, but if you’re interested in an American Express credit card now is a good time to apply. Another card worth mentioning is the American Express Preferred Rewards Gold Card. This American Express credit card offers preferred seating at many shows and concerts which can be a great option for the consumer who loves entertainment.
