Taking Care of Your Credit Cards
Make Sure You Care For Your Credit Cards Properly
We all know that we need to protect our credit cards from criminals, but how often do we think about protecting our credit cards from normal wear and tear. This recently came to mind when I went to pay with my Discover card and not only could the magnetic strip not be read, but the clerk could barely read the numbers on the front of the card. I guess keeping the credit card in my back pocket so many times finally took its tool on the poor thing. So how can you protect your credit cards to make sure they don’t fall apart before they expire?
Leather Wallets
As I learned, back pockets are not the ideal place for credit cards. Carry your credit card with you in your wallet. Leather wallets are best since the leather is soft and pliable and is less likely to cause excessive wear and tear on your card when you put it in and take it out.
Keep Cards Away From Checkout Counters
Many checkout counters have demagnetizing properties built into them. If your credit card gets too close to the counter, you may very well risk demagnetizing your credit card. By keeping your credit card away from the counters, you’ll be ensuring that your card can be read by the scanners.
