Spring Break on a Student Credit Card Budget
Get a Spring Credit Card Now and Plan Your Spring Break Getaway
January is the time that many college students starting thinking about spring break, and having a student credit card can certainly help solve some of the financial concerns associated with spring break. Spring break is a rite of passage for college students, and even if you don’t plan to go to Cancun or some other exotic destination, a student credit card can come in handy for whatever road trip or outing you’ve planned.
Watch That Budget
The key with using a student credit card to finance spring break is to be responsible. Be realistic when using a student credit card. I certainly wouldn’t advise you using a credit card every year to finance spring break, but if you are a senior and have never gone before, or you are a junior and know that you won’t be able to go on spring break next year because of an internship, then you might want to consider having your student credit card come to the rescue.
I wouldn’t advise students to begin life after graduation with unnecessary debt, but once you start full time life in the real world you are going to have a lot of time and social demands placed on you. It might not be possible to get away for a few years particularly once you start a new job and your vacation time is limited.
Make a plan. Determine how much spring break is going to cost you. Try to figure out if you can work a few extra hours in the summer to offset the money you spent on spring break. Then whatever extra money you make you can put right on your student credit card to pay your balance down.
Another advantage of a student credit card is that you can usually find a reasonable interest rate which you might not be able to find with other credit cards.
