Resolving a Credit Card Billing Dispute
Resolving a Credit Card Billing Dispute Doesn’t Have to be a Headache
The mail comes and, lucky you, a credit card statement or two came in. You open your statements and much to your dismay, you notice a credit card billing error. It’s time to file a credit card billing dispute, but who do you turn to and how do you do it? Believe it or not, filing a credit card billing dispute doesn’t have to be a headache. You just need to know what steps to take. That’s where we come in.
Mandatory Instruction
Thanks to the Fair Credit Billing Act, your creditors are required to tell you on every statement how to file a credit card billing dispute. Usually they give you the option of calling in and/or sending a notice in writing.
Opt for the Written Notice
If you need to file a credit card billing dispute, you’re going to want to do so in writing. If you do so over the phone, you’re going to have no written record of the conversation and no proof that you filed the dispute in the first place. Sending in a written notice will cover you as far as record-keeping is concerned.
Don’t forget, check your credit card statement for your credit card company’s exact credit card billing dispute instructions. It will make the process much easier.
