Are picture credit cards the security of the future?
We all know that the sales associates at the stores are supposed to check the signature strips on the back of our credit cards to make sure that we’re the ones using the card. But how closely do they really check and furthermore, how hard is it for a professional con artist to forge our signatures? Picture credit cards may be the answer to that problem.
Picture Credit Cards Offer Added Security
Now while a cashier probably can’t tell your signature from the signature of someone trying to copy your handwriting, they definitely can tell you by your picture and it’s a lot harder to copy your face than it is to copy your handwriting. Because of that, some credit card companies are offering picture credit cards -- credit cards that feature your picture on them.
While not all credit card companies are currently offering picture credit cards, who knows what the future will bring? In addition to picture credit cards, fingerprint credit cards are also being introduced to the market. It appears that the days of a signature strip being our only credit card security are going to soon be a thing of the past.
