Many Consumers Opt for a Prepaid Credit Card
What is a Prepaid Credit Card?
Having a prepaid credit card can be a smart financial decision. A prepaid credit card can provide a consumer with the convenience of credit card but without the added worries about interest rates and late fees. If you’ve been hesitant to get a credit card for any reason, you might want to consider getting a prepaid credit card.
It's Not Perfect
There are some things that you can’t do with a prepaid credit card. Recurring monthly expenses aren’t usually possible with a prepaid credit card.
Sometimes getting a prepaid credit card requires a setup fee. The fee is usually nominal. Before getting a prepaid credit card it’s always a good idea to determine what fees accompany the prepaid credit card you are interested in. If you’re not comfortable with the fees associated with having a prepaid credit card, then you might not want to get one.
For Some It's a Lifesaver
A prepaid credit card is an option for individuals who have bad credit. Having a prepaid credit card can simplify your life just like having a credit card can. However, you won’t have to worry about high interest rates and accumulating more debt. Your purchases on your prepaid credit card are already “prepaid.”
A prepaid credit card can be used at any location where credit cards like Visa and Mastercard are accepted. Prepaid credit cards are good options for a certain segment of consumers. I have a close friend who previously insisted she never wanted a credit card. “If you can’t afford it, don’t buy it” was her motto. However, since she travels a lot, she found that having a credit card would make her life easier while on the road. So she opted for a prepaid credit card instead. That way she has the peace of mind knowing that she already paid for the purchases she was making on her prepaid credit card.
