Is a Customizable Credit Card Crazy or Clever?

The Hottest New Customizable Credit Card

It’s not like a customizable credit card is a new concept. For years we have been receiving credit card applications in the mail asking us which of the credit card designs we prefer. However, thanks to BMW, the customizable credit card is being taken to a whole new level.

What’s Your Car Look Like?

If you have one of those MINI’s made by BMW, you may be interested in their hot new customizable credit card. No, the credit card doesn’t have some stock photo of a MINI on it, you can actually design the MINI that appears on the credit card to look exactly like your car.

Even if you don’t have a MINI and you’ve always wanted one, design the MINI of your dreams for your customizable credit card. Each dollar you spend with the card will earn you one point and those points can be redeemed for up to $5,000 towards your next MINI purchase. To sweeten the deal, car-related purchases such as gas and car washes get you two points for every dollar you spend.

From the color to the package style to the wheels, you can customize almost everything about the MINI that appears on this customizable credit card so you really can make it look just like your car. This customizable credit card lets you choose from four body styles, twenty-one choices of body color, twenty-four choices of roof color, and thirty-six wheel choices.

It’s Not Just About Appearance

Even though this customizable credit card is fun, it’s not just the appearance that’s attracting MINI fans. The card is offering 0 percent interest on all purchases for six months in addition to the rewards program attached to the card.

Watch Your Spending

If you do opt for this customizable credit card, watch your spending. While the zero-percent interest is enticing, that interest rate will skyrocket after the first six months. If you’re carrying a balance on your credit card when those first six months are up, you’re going to be stuck with an interest rate ranging from 9.99 percent to 17.99 percent depending on your credit and cash advances have a whopping rate of 20.99 percent.

As with all rewards cards, this customizable credit card is probably best for those who pay their balances in full each month.
