Getting Rid of Credit Card Debt
Some Easy Ways to Get Rid of Credit Card Debt
So your credit card debt has reached a point that you wish it hadn’t. It’s time to start taking control of the situation. While it may not be possible to pay your credit card debt off immediately, there are some steps you can take to pay your credit card debt off more quickly than you would by making the minimal monthly payments.
It’s Tax Time!
You know that tax refund you’re getting? Forget about taking that short vacation with it. It’s time to apply that money towards your credit card debt. Once you’re out of credit card debt, then you can think about taking vacations, but right now your priority should be paying down your debt levels.
Employee Bonuses
And while we’re talking about putting extra money towards our credit card debt, let’s talk about employee bonuses. Do you work at a company that offers its employees an annual employee bonus? If so, you’re going to want to take that bonus and apply it to your credit card debt this year. Between the bonus and your tax return, you should be able to get a decent size chunk of your credit card debt whittled away.
Put in Some Overtime
Do you have the ability to put in some overtime at your job? If you do, you’re going to want to put in some extra hours in order to pay off your credit card debt. Sure, you’re cutting into some of your personal time, but overtime is paid at time and a half, so it is well worth it. Depending on how much overtime you put in, you might even be able to pay off all of your credit card debt within the year!
Have a Garage Sale
Out with the old! Do you have a bunch of stuff in your attic or garage that’s just sitting there? Put it to work for you! Have a garage sale and use the funds from the sale to pay down some of your credit card debt. One year we had a garage sale and made over $800! That’s quite a chunk of money going towards the credit card balance!
