Do Your Credit Cards Have You on the Brink of Bankruptcy?
What To Do If Your Credit Cards Are Out of Control
Do your credit cards have you on the brink of bankruptcy? If the answer is yes, there are a few things you need to address and a few measures you can take to protect your financial future. However, you have to be willing to listen to the following advice...
It's Not Them, It's You
First of all, I said "do your credit cards have you..." What I should have said is "did you put yourself..." Why? Because your credit cards can't use themselves. You used them and you put yourself in the position you're in right now.
No, I'm not saying you're a bad person. Bad things happen to good people. However, you're never going to get anywhere if you keep blaming your credit cards. It's time to take a bit of responsibility for the situation you're in now.
How Bad Is It?
Now that you've admitted there's a reason your credit cards are in the shape they're in, you need to ask yourself how bad the situation is. Is it hard for you to pay your bills each month or is it outright impossible?
If it's just inconvenient -- too bad. Suck it up till you're out of debt. If it's impossible, it's time to consider your options including credit card debt consolidation or even bankruptcy. A credit counseling service (as long as it's legit) is also a likely necessity.
Taking Action
If you do need to file for bankruptcy or consolidate your credit cards, don't put it off. As Nike says -- just do it. It's not a pretty picture but if you take control of the situation now, in the future credit cards may once again be your friend (but handle the relationship wisely).
