Discover What a Discover Card Can Do for You

Did You “Discover” Today?

With a Discover card you can discover what you’ve been missing. Never like the present has a Discover card been a great choice for consumers interested in acquiring a new credit card. I can remember a time when I would have to put my Discover card back in my wallet and pull out another major credit card because the merchant I was shopping at didn’t take Discover. Not anymore. I know very few stores who don’t take Discover.

Not All Incentives Are Created Equal

Many credit card companies have luring incentive programs that appeal to a broad range of customers. Discover has that “back-to-the-basics” option that any consumer pressed for cash at the end of the month can appreciate.

A Shining Star

I have to admit I didn’t fully utilize my Discover card for their cash back bonus program until I encountered a savvy consumer who did just that. We commuted together to a college in a town about thirty miles away. We lived in the same town, and he worked at the school, and I was a college student at the time. It never failed. Any time we stopped for gas, he pulled out his Discover credit card. He explained that he always used it for everyday purchases so that he could accumulate a substantial cash back bonus at the end of the year. I was intrigued but not sold yet. I didn’t have the financial maturity to make something like that work for me. His secret to get the “free money” was that he always paid his balance in full each month. The day his credit card statement arrived in the mail, he would go over it very carefully confirming that every entry was for something that he did, in fact, purchase. Then he would pay his entire balance in full each month. He never paid any interest, and he was in the positive by the year’s end due to his substantial cash back bonus.

If you are pretty conservative with your spending, this might be the option for you. Even if you carry a balance from month to month, wouldn’t you want to use your Discover card so at least you can get cash back at the end of the year? You’re going to pay interest with any credit card if you carry a balance, so why not make the credit card work for you in some way? That’s exactly what Discover card does for you through their cash back bonus program.
