Recent news articles have described the beneficial changes that Citigroup Inc. is implementing for their credit card customers. Ultimately, Citigroup hopes to improve the relationships it has with its customers and they’re not the only ones. It seems more and more credit card companies are stepping up to the plate when it comes to customer service.
Late Payment Penalties Just Got More Lenient
Citigroup will no longer raise a customer’s interest rate when the customer is late paying other bills. This can be helpful for consumers who have trouble making ends meet and have to select what bills they will pay each month. Missing payments with other credit cards will no longer hurt their interest rate on their Citibank credit card.
Another change Citigroup is making is to not routinely increase interest rates for no reason, which is something this company previously did and many credit card companies still do.
Maybe it’s Time for Change?
If you don’t have a Citibank credit card, you might be really eager to get one after reading about the positive changes they are making. Obviously, as a credit card consumer, it makes sense to shop around for the best offers that suit your unique needs and are most beneficial for you.
The higher credit rating you have, the more bargaining power you have. Keep in mind that with most credit cards if you do miss any type of payment even with another credit card company, your other credit card companies will raise your interest rate. Citibank is now an exception to that rule of thumb, and hopefully other credit card companies will follow suit.
